San Diego State to Host 2008 MWC Cross Country ChampionshipsPublished by
Oct. 30, 2008 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 2008 Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Mission Bay Park in San Diego, Calif. The women's 6K race will begin at 10 a.m. PT, while the men's 8K race will start at 11 a.m. PT. The women's race will feature nine teams, including defending MWC champion Colorado State, 2006 conference champion No. 28 BYU, and No. 23 New Mexico. Individually, Colorado State returns Kirsten Anthony, who took runner-up honors at the 2007 MWC Championships, as well as sophomore Allison Gohl, who was named the 2007 Freshman of the Year after finishing eighth overall in last year's meet. Senior Angela Wagner leads the Cougars as a returning top-10 finisher, while New Mexico senior Michelle Corrigan, who finished fifth overall at last year's Conference meet, leads the Lobos in their quest to capture their first championship crown. Also featured in the women's race is New Mexico junior transfer Nicky Archer, whose 6K time of 20:54.60 at the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet ranks first in the league so far this season.
